ADHD - what is worth knowing?
ADHD, or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, is a neurobiological developmental disorder that often occurs in children, but can also affect adults. It is characterized by difficulty concentrating, excessive impulsivity and hyperactivity.
People with ADHD may have difficulty maintaining attention on tasks, organizing work or controlling impulses, which can negatively affect functioning in various areas of life, including school, work and interpersonal relationships.
It is important to understand that ADHD is not the result of laziness or lack of willpower, but is an actual neurological disorder that is rooted in differences in brain function. There are various approaches to treating ADHD, including behavioral therapy, pharmacotherapy and educational support.

Neurodiversity - what is worth knowing?
The biggest challenge for a neurodivergent person is to read another person's state of mind. The statement, for example, "I think you think I have an ugly sweatshirt" is absolutely abstract for a neurodivergent person.
Challenges of neuroatypical people at work
Neuroatypical people can be found in almost all professions. Not everyone has an official diagnosis, and if they do, they don't necessarily want to talk about it. Mostly they have valid reasons for doing so, such as:
- Fear of discrimination, stigmatization and social isolation.
- Past negative experiences.
- Feelings of shame, embarrassment or self-doubt.
- Fear of talking about one's work situation.
How can we support each other?
Differences in behavior and brain function reflect the natural variation in the population. When many people would be labeled "sick" simply because they deviate from the norm, they sometimes often have unique ways of thinking, rare talents and unique ways of perceiving stimuli. That's why today we refer to such people as neuroatypical.
Diversity is dissimilarity in a certain area of life. And neurodiversity refers to the fact that each of us has a unique nervous system. This involves a variety of specific needs and abilities. Some are better at excel, others at working creatively with a large group of people. Some people like loud concerts, others are terrified by them.

Autism spectrum
The autism spectrum is a complex area that encompasses a variety of features, symptoms and degrees of functioning. Autism is a neurobiological developmental disorder that affects the way an individual perceives the world, communicates and interacts with other people. This is a spectrum because autism symptoms can occur in different combinations and degrees of severity, making everyone diagnosed with the disorder different.
It is important to understand that autism is not a homogeneous entity, but rather a collection of diverse experiences and characteristics. People with autism may have difficulties in verbal and nonverbal communication, in building social relationships and in performing routine tasks. Some people with autism may exhibit restricted, repetitive behaviors, as well as excessive sensitivity to sensory stimuli such as sounds, light or touch.
