Today, being a manager is not just about delegating tasks and achieving business goals &#8211; it is also about taking care of motivation, the mental health of the team and building a culture of openness. During our webinar <strong data-start=\"347\" data-end=\"382\">&#8220;Challenges of a modern leader,&#8221;<\/strong> we reviewed with participants the biggest difficulties that leaders face and looked for ways to overcome them.  <\/p><p data-start=\"527\" data-end=\"673\">Below we summarize the key issues that came up in the discussion and suggested solutions that you can implement in your organization.<\/p><hr data-start=\"675\" data-end=\"678\"><h2 data-start=\"680\" data-end=\"730\"><strong data-start=\"683\" data-end=\"728\">The biggest challenges of today&#8217;s leaders<\/strong><\/h2><h3 data-start=\"732\" data-end=\"805\"><strong data-start=\"736\" data-end=\"803\"><br>How to motivate employees when we don&#8217;t have a budget for raises?<\/strong><\/h3><p data-start=\"806\" data-end=\"1061\">One of the most frequently discussed topics was managing motivation in times of limited resources. Increasingly, leaders are encountering situations where employees openly say, <strong data-start=\"992\" data-end=\"1031\">&#8220;I&#8217;m only motivated by my salary,&#8221;<\/strong> and raises are not an option. <\/p><p data-start=\"1063\" data-end=\"1427\"><strong data-start=\"1063\" data-end=\"1094\">What alternatives might there be?<br><\/strong><br data-start=\"1094\" data-end=\"1097\">\u2705 Transparent communication &#8211; a frank conversation about the company&#8217;s financial capabilities.<br data-start=\"1177\" data-end=\"1180\">\u2705 Employee appreciation &#8211; kudos system, public thanks, extra days off.<br data-start=\"1268\" data-end=\"1271\">\u2705 Development opportunities &#8211; investing in training, mentoring, interesting projects.<br data-start=\"1348\" data-end=\"1351\">\u2705 Building a sense of influence &#8211; involving employees in team decisions.<\/p><p data-start=\"1429\" data-end=\"1525\">Motivation is not just about finances. People want to feel that their work matters and that they are appreciated. <\/p><hr data-start=\"1527\" data-end=\"1530\"><h3 data-start=\"1532\" data-end=\"1637\"><strong data-start=\"1536\" data-end=\"1635\">Stress and emotion management &#8211; how to be authentic but not transfer tension to the team?<\/strong><\/h3><p data-start=\"1638\" data-end=\"1908\">Many leaders pointed out the problem of stress and emotions, especially in the context of video conferencing. Some managers admitted that they <strong data-start=\"1769\" data-end=\"1844\">don&#8217;t always feel up to the task of being fully open and smiling<\/strong>, and at the same time don&#8217;t want the team to feel their burden. <\/p><p data-start=\"1910\" data-end=\"2311\">What can be done?<br><br data-start=\"1926\" data-end=\"1929\">\u2705 <strong data-start=\"1931\" data-end=\"1950\">Lead by example<\/strong> &#8211; acknowledging difficult days can help build a culture of openness.<br data-start=\"2022\" data-end=\"2025\">\u2705 <strong data-start=\"2027\" data-end=\"2047\">Set boundaries<\/strong> &#8211; if you don&#8217;t have the strength for the camera, it&#8217;s worth communicating this to the team in a simple way: <em data-start=\"2131\" data-end=\"2208\">&#8220;I&#8217;m going to turn the camera off today because I&#8217;m having an intense day, but I&#8217;m listening to you carefully.&#8221;<\/em><br data-start=\"2208\" data-end=\"2211\">\u2705 <strong data-start=\"2213\" data-end=\"2233\">Regulating emotions<\/strong> &#8211; short breaks for breathing, sports, walks can help manage tension.<\/p><p data-start=\"2313\" data-end=\"2448\">As a leader, you have the right to have weaker days. The key is how you talk about it and how you take care of yourself so that you don&#8217;t transfer the tension to others. <\/p><hr data-start=\"2450\" data-end=\"2453\"><h3 data-start=\"2455\" data-end=\"2509\"><strong data-start=\"2459\" data-end=\"2507\">Team conflicts and generational differences<\/strong><\/h3><p data-start=\"2510\" data-end=\"2711\">Differences of opinion and difficult situations in a team are unavoidable. A modern leader must be able to manage diverse personalities and generations &#8211; from experienced employees to younger generations. <\/p><p data-start=\"2713\" data-end=\"3070\">How to deal with conflicts?<br><br data-start=\"2744\" data-end=\"2747\">\u2705 <strong data-start=\"2749\" data-end=\"2770\">Active listening<\/strong> &#8211; often the problem is not a difference of opinion, but a lack of space for conversation.<br data-start=\"2845\" data-end=\"2848\">\u2705 <strong data-start=\"2850\" data-end=\"2882\">Establishing common values<\/strong> &#8211; defining rules for cooperation helps avoid misunderstandings.<br data-start=\"2941\" data-end=\"2944\">\u2705 <strong data-start=\"2946\" data-end=\"2967\">Accepting differences<\/strong> &#8211; it&#8217;s not always worth convincing someone of your point of view, sometimes it&#8217;s enough to accept a different perspective.<\/p><p data-start=\"3072\" data-end=\"3157\">A leader does not have to be a mediator, but should create a culture of respect and openness.<\/p><hr data-start=\"3159\" data-end=\"3162\"><h2 data-start=\"3164\" data-end=\"3205\"><strong data-start=\"3167\" data-end=\"3203\">Stress &#8211; the invisible enemy of the leader<\/strong><\/h2><p data-start=\"3207\" data-end=\"3459\">Modern management is not only concerned with company performance, but also with <strong data-start=\"3279\" data-end=\"3340\">the mental health &#8211; both of the team and the leader himself<\/strong>. More and more managers are feeling <strong data-start=\"3374\" data-end=\"3456\">information overload, pressure of responsibility and lack of time for rest<\/strong>. <\/p><p data-start=\"3461\" data-end=\"3883\">It is worth remembering that <strong data-start=\"3480\" data-end=\"3534\">prolonged stress leads to professional burnout<\/strong>, and a leader who does not take care of himself will not be able to effectively support others. Therefore, the key is: <br><br data-start=\"3641\" data-end=\"3644\">\u2714 <strong data-start=\"3646\" data-end=\"3699\">Finding daily space for recovery<\/strong> &#8211; even a 10-minute break can work wonders.<br data-start=\"3744\" data-end=\"3747\">\u2714 <strong data-start=\"3749\" data-end=\"3769\">Setting boundaries<\/strong> &#8211; you don&#8217;t have to be available 24\/7.<br data-start=\"3801\" data-end=\"3804\">\u2714 <strong data-start=\"3806\" data-end=\"3834\">Physical activity and sleep<\/strong> &#8211; key elements of stress management.<\/p><p data-start=\"3885\" data-end=\"3989\">By taking care of yourself, you set an example for your team and create a culture where mental health is important.<\/p><hr data-start=\"3991\" data-end=\"3994\"><h2 data-start=\"3996\" data-end=\"4065\"><strong data-start=\"3999\" data-end=\"4063\">This is just the beginning &#8211; join our community of leaders!<\/strong><\/h2><p data-start=\"4067\" data-end=\"4311\">The webinar is just the first step in a conversation about the challenges of today&#8217;s leaders.
