Specialists working in this nu<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">rcie<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">deal with problems such as<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">k:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Difficulties in maintaining a normal body weight;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lack of dietary assertiveness;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">eating under stress;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">eating disorders;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Difficulties with changing eating habits.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The connection between food and state of mind and emotions is obvious, though not always realized. Anyone who &#8211; for example &#8211; reaches for chocolate in between stressful meetings knows about it. As Sylvia E. Haskvitz writes in her book  <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Eat by Choice, Not by Habit: <\/span><b>&#8220;<\/b><b>Eating is often a strategy for satisfying needs other than hunger.&#8221;<\/b><\/p>\n<h2><b>Through the stomach to the heart?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of the main goals of psychodietetics is to make the patient aware of the relationship between nutrition and health &#8211; both physical and mental.  <\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'BRSonoma Light'; letter-spacing: 0px;\">The saying &#8220;through the stomach to the heart&#8221; contains a grain of truth, and not only about the effectiveness of grooming with home-cooked meals. However, in psychodietetics, a bigger role than the stomach and heart is played by the gut and brain, which are constantly communicating with each other.  <\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'BRSonoma Light'; letter-spacing: 0px;\">The gastrointestinal microflora has a significant impact on brain function; it affects our emotions, mood and behavior, and even <\/span><a style=\"font-family: 'BRSonoma Light'; letter-spacing: 0px;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S2452231719300181?via%3Dihub\">some aspects of personality<\/a><span style=\"font-family: 'BRSonoma Light'; letter-spacing: 0px;\">. <\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As Giulia Enders writes in her book &#8220;An Inside Story: The Gut &#8211; Our Body&#8217;s Most Fascinating Organ.&#8221;  <\/span><b>&#8220;The gut is a sensitive, hard-working and responsible organ, as well as hugely influential. Such seemingly disparate issues as overweight, depression, colds and itchy rashes are associated with their work.&#8221;<\/b><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Stress and diet<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We recently talked about the fact that<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/edu.emplomind.co.uk\/en\/wypalenie-2\/\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">stress at work<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">  Can lead to eating disorders. Especially in recent years, when the way we work &#8211; and eat while working &#8211; is changing so much:  <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.frontiersin.org\/articles\/10.3389\/fpubh.2022.774509\/full\"><br>  <b>A study conducted on a group of Poles<\/b><br><\/a><b> working remotely showed that during lockdown 64.4% of them noticed changes in their eating habits.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/edu.emplomind.co.uk\/sposoby-na-radzenie-sobie-ze-stresorami-infografika\/\"><br>  <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">healthy methods<\/span><br><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to deal with stressors, but these require conscious effort, while our body craves relief in the here and now. <\/span><b>A strong urge to eat chocolate may be a signal from a stressed body<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which itself suggests solutions to us based on memories and associations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to a study published in the journal <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41598-017-05649-7\"><br>  <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Scientific Reports<\/span><br><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, there are links between high sugar diets and depression.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The task of the psychodietitian is therefore to <\/span><b>to break the vicious cycle<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">into which people who maintain poor eating habits while struggling with various psychological problems fall.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-8087\" src=\"https:\/\/edu.emplomind.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/dietetyk-1200x675.png\" alt=\"nutritionist\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\"><\/p>\n<h2><b>What does a consultation with a psychodietitian look like?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When choosing a specialist, it is worth remembering that nowadays many doctors and therapists offer the possibility of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/edu.emplomind.co.uk\/na-co-zwrocic-uwage-decydujac-sie-na-konsultacje-psychologiczna-online\/\"><br>  <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">online consultations<\/span><br><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
